- Description
- On front: O. A. Hollenbeck Photographer, Oneida Community,--Group No. 1. ; On back: M.S. Norton The clearest print ever seen. Some of others seen copies. Property of Historical Committee. Duplicate kept for framing and identification. Dated by Dr. Cragin in the Historical Album, June 25, 1863. The same date as the view of the Mansion House (also there) which he says was taken "from the roof of the livery barn"- (the circular says 4 pictures were taken then.) Is that the barn at right here? Could this picture have been taken from the top of the water-reservoir on North Lawn? The photographer on the same day, took his other picture from the top of a barn, according to Dr. Cragin. Which barn of the many ones he describes with pictures of Post Office is the one he means? Probably that on site of S. Wayland-Smith (now Hatch) house.
