The Governor of the State of Newyork [New York] To the Superintendants of the affairs of the Brothertown Ind'ns: In pursuance of the Act entitled an act for the relief of the Indians who are entitled to Lands in Brothertown, I do hereby appoint you to receive from the Treasurer of this State, the sum of eight hundred and sixty four pounds, six shillings and four pence, appropriated by the said Act for their relief, and I do hereby instruct you after having first paid thereout, the expence of maintaining the School in Brothertown for the education of Indian Children, and also the Salary of the Attorney in the said Act mentioned, to lay out the remainder of the said sum, to and for the benefit of the Indians residing in Brothertown, by supplying them in proportion as their perspective circumstances may require, and render proper, with farming utensils, with livestock, with a blacksmiths shop, and with the common tools & instruments necessary for that Trade, together with a moderate supply of iron - and you will make to me a particular report of your proceedings and expenditures in pursuance of these instructions.
