The Governor of the State of Newyork [New York] To the Superintendants of the Affairs of the Brothertown Ind'ns: In pursuance of the Act entitled an Act for the relief of Indians who are entitled to Lands in Brothertown, I do hereby appoint you to receive from the Treasurer of this State the sum of two thousand one hundred and sixty dollars and seventy nine cents, equal to eight hundred and sixty four pounds, six shillings and fourpence, appropriated by the said Act for their relief, and I do hereby instruct you after having first paid thereout the expence of maintaining the School in Brothertown for the education of Indian children, and also the Salary of the Attorney for the said Indians in the said Act mentioned to lay out the remainder of the Said Sum together with the Bal'ce remaining of last years expenditure amount'g to seven hundred and twenty three Dollars, to and for the benefit of the Indians residing at Brothertown in the manner following for purchasing materials &building a grist Mill - $1000 " " Iron & Farming utensils - 200 " " live stock - 600 " " cloathing [clothing] stationary [stationery] & leather - 600 To the Town Clerk - 62.50 $2462.50 And in such other expenditures for the Benefit of the said Indians as you may judge to be proper, but which cannot now be designated or ascertained.
