Digital Collection Development Committee
The Hamilton College Digital Collections Development Committee is charged with collectively allocating Hamilton’s resources for digital collections, including funds dedicated to outsourcing digitization as needed, the in-house digitization lab, resources for the creation of metadata, and system resources including storage. Prioritization of the allocation of these resources should be guided by the Digital Collections Collection Development Philosophy: In creating our collection development philosophy for digital collections, we establish criteria consistent with this mission and its goals. Our collection development practice directly supports Digital Hamilton’s goal of transforming the way those in the Hamilton community teach, learn, and operate the College with increased focus on digitally intensive courses and emerging digital technologies.
The committee is chaired by the Associate Director of Digital Initiatives and Technology and will include at least one representative each from Special Collections, Archives, and Research and Instructional Design.
