Description: Very clear sepia image of Christian Metz home in Amana. This view was taken from the General Store. The entire west side of the Metz house is visible, including the attached kitchen house wing. In the far left of the photograph one can see the Amana Church. Fences, out buildings, even wash on the line are clearly visible. Back of the picture is marked "Oesterle Home Amana IA Church Background". The Oesterle family lived in the house from around the turn of the century to the present day. Image is 4 1/8 X 3 and is mounted on an embossed card that is 5 1/2 X 4 1/4. Christian Metz (1793-1867) was the leader and Werkzeug (prophet) of the Inspirationists from 1823 until his death in 1867.
