Description: Group of school boys in the apple orchard, around 1895. This is a modern 8 X 10 print from an original image made by Bertha M.H. Shambaugh around 1895. Shambaugh mainly photographed in Amana between about 1892 and her marriage in 1897. This print was probably made in the 1970s and is of good quality. About 10 school age youths are in the picture, along with two older adults, one of whom (with white chin beard) is likely Engelhardt Hecker, one of the school teachers at the time. Included are several of the distinctive Amana willow baskets.
