- Abstract
- H-2 1839, Feb. 26 Letter to E. R. in Europe from Elisabeth in New Haven. Begins by telling her brother that his letter of Jan. 2nd arrived, but that of Dec. 12th did not. Wonders if he sent the latter via England for several packets were destroyed in a storm at Liverpool. She notes that the packets have reduced transatlantic fares to $100, whereas the steam ships charge $170. Tells him that George has moved his family into a house located two streets south of his former location. Indicates that George and Charles have plenty to do with their work. Charles is not only involved with law and insurance, but he is also a Whig committeeman and a canal committee man. Says she is impatient for the appearance of the April number of the Biblical Repository because it will carry Edward's article about his trip to the East.
