The person seated back of the temple with a guitar partly conceale[d] and a pipe hanging over the back of his chair is engaged in reciting portions of ancient Chinese history - varying his voice from the natural key to deep bass then alto etc - sometimes singing the musicians occassionally striking in. Standing at his right is one with an organ - next a guitar - at the left a dulcimer - a tea-pot and tea-cups are on the table from [which] they sip the beverage quite [o]ften
