G-3 1829, Jan. 29 Letter to E. R. (c/o Curtis & Porter in Paris) from Elisabeth in New Haven. Her longing for the return of her brother is expressed in letter after letter, but here she is rather specific about her situation. "The marriage of all my brothers has indeed left me in one sense alone . . there are hours and days when sadness & a sense of desolation reign preminent." Mentions a fire in New Haven that was not far from George's store. Complains of the bitter cold in the house, but says that the winter has been very mild, with the roads dusty as in summer. Indicates that the rebellion at Yale in the summer of 1828 has not affected enrollment of the Freshman Class.
